Diverse Business Development Center
The Diverse Business Development Center will provide valuable support and critical resources to help DBEs optimize the opportunities to continue building and expanding their business. Our goal is to use the collective resources of our diverse suppliers to create synergy in the diverse business community. To do this, we need a base, a center for excellence, a place where the exchange of ideas, knowledge, and support is the essential ingredient – a Center for success. The Center’s objective is to expand business opportunity for diverse entrepreneurs. The building, growing and maintaining a successful business is ï¬lled with uncertainties and substantial challenges. Having the vision and know-how to drive a business forward is critical to success. Category Sourcing Exchanges
These sessions connect sourcing professionals from Council member corporations to DBEs based on product/service categories. This gives both the DBE and the member organization a more targeted approach to identifying mutually beneﬁcial supplier relationships. Category Sourcing Exchanges provide the opportunity for buyers from specific product/service categories to engage with suppliers who offer services specifically within those categories. An Executive Program for Diverse Business Leaders The most successful businesses continually seek to improve and grow. In the challenging global business environment, we are all experiencing, it is even more important for business leaders to take a step back and look at their organization’s health and to identify areas for improvement. The University of San Diego School of Business and the Council for Supplier Diversity are partnering to offer a series of workshops designed specifically for minority, women, service-disabled veteran, and Native American–owned companies.

DBE to DBE Sourcing Requests A valuable strategies for building economic value in the diverse business community is DBE to DBE spend. This is particularly important as a way to help build the capacity of emerging small businesses. Part of the Council’s objective in the Economic Empowerment Zones is growing local businesses as a job creation strategy. Working together as a community, growing diverse businesses can mobilize increased resources. These resources can be used to provide buying power, education, job opportunities and greater philanthropy. In doing so, you unleash a powerful synergistic result to raise people in economically underserved communities out of poverty
You can help by looking for opportunities to purchase products and services from other DBEs. When you need something, please submit this DBE Sourcing Request Form to the Council. We will send you profiles of diverse businesses that provide the services you’re looking for. We start with those companies right in your community and then look in the region. We will track the successes and report results periodically.
